Stuck In A Box (2012)

Well the world keeps spinning around my head,
I hear the daycare kids crying to be fed,
When all the lands through all the seas,
Don’t appreciate what they’ve been given free,
All I can do is sigh,
My feet won’t move,
And I can’t fly so,
All I can do is sigh.

I’m just stuck in a box,
Waiting to be locked,
With my own company,
They broke all the clocks,
And tied liberty in knots,
‘Cuz time won’t let this be.

Well we’re all just trapped in this box,
Just throwing rocks,
At what we used to be,
We refuse to understand,
What it’s like to be in demand,
‘Cuz the situation’s lost it’s key.

This Too Shall Pass (2012)

When your blood and tears have taken stage,
When the dreams of a many,
Line every page,
When thought of triumph begin to call,
Your knees may tremble,
You don’t expect the fall

When you find all hope’s gone through the storm,
Raise your head; find something to focus on,
Your knees may fail,
But your will lives on,
What’s one more crawl,
Before the dawn

When feelings of sorrow and defeat concede,
They will look upon you once again to lead,
So we hope again for a better day,
Our strength in you is here to stay,
For grief will come; but it will not last,
Let hope prevail; this too shall pass.

Watching Over Me (2012)

You had a helluva life,
You got your family right,
Be it as a daughter, sister or wife,
You left a colourful trend,
All in the hands of your friends,
Who’d make sure you’d still be kept alive.

Oh but when your time was up,
I’m sure you didn’t want to give up,
You couldn’t leave all this behind,
But listen my dear,
You’ve got nothing to fear,
'Cuz happiness is all you’ll find.

When the skies are looking up my darlin’,
I’ll know that you’re alright,
All the thoughts of you; watching over me,
Puts me to sleep at night.

Time goes by today so fast,
You never know who or what will last,
I might wake up in the morning for a cuppa’ tea,
Then end up where you are for lunch at three

When the skies are looking up my darlin’,
I’ll know that you’re alright,
All the thoughts of you; watching over me,
Keeps me asleep at night.

Lil’ Miss Lovegood (2012)

Twenty blocks down from central park,
A twenty storey block thrown in the dark,
Up the stairs to B-seven-four-seven,
Pretty red curtains and a door to heaven,
Knock on her; she never goes to sleep,
Sweet summer scent and a blouse real deep.

Oh Lil’ Miss Lovegood,
It’s cold outside,
So wont you bring me a cuppa’ tea,
Oh Lil’ Miss Lovegood,
It’s too bright inside,
So blow the candles out and come to me.

A push against the wall and a whisper in your ear,
She’s the root of ecstasy,
Soft as she may be; she’s more than what you see,
She’s got the blacksmith as a referee.

Oh Lil’ Miss Lovegood,
Could you come on over,
I could use a little company,
Oh Lil’ Miss Lovegood,
I’d let you tie me up and show who you are to me,
Oh Lil’ Miss Lovegood,
Come give my money’s worth,
You’ve got my last month’s salary,
Oh Lil’ Miss Lovegood,
Your queue’s lining up,
But come take your time with me.

Magic Man (2012)

Oh dark it is in that silent room,
Where the walls whisper rumors,
He’s got a job to do so that he does,
A puppet with infinite strings.
A fight in vain; yet fight he does,
In hopes of something new,
But he can’t run away,
From what he thought was yesterday,
The people; tell him what to do.

Hey Mr. Magic man,

Won’t you play a trick on us?
We’ll let you shuffle your deck,
We’ll let you check,
And be awed by an illusion so true,
But soon we’ll walk away,
And leave you to stay,
Then voila; the joke’s on you.

With a worry in his heart,

He sets course to a town,
Certain a welcome,
Would be an undoubted given.
He thought; to them I needn’t explain,
Why my cards are weary,
And my tricks show signs of pain,
Oh they’d understand,
They’d make me better,
They’ll make me be the best I can.

But a welcome he did not see,

Nothing of what he thought would be,
Except a message that left him scarred,
Your trade’s too old sir,
The people here,
Of you they just can’t make sense,
You’ve confused them with emotion,
All they’ll give you is a frown,
So you best understand,
There’s no room for you in this town.
So pack his bags again he did,
Letting his feet wander to what was left,
With thoughts behind,
And no hope in line,
He heard the passers by call.

Hey Mr. Magic man,
Won’t you play a trick on us?
We’ll let you wave your palm,
And work your charm,
And be awed by an illusion so true,
But soon we’ll take that away,
Abandoned you’ll stay,
Then abracadabra , the joke’s on you.

Ramblings of a Drunk Poet (2012)

This world you see,
Was meant to be free,
But when it falls to dust,
Your heart begins to rust.
Oh lord, thou hath no mercy,
Why let us crumble and fall?
Said you did, this will not be easy,
But alas, we ignored your warning call.
I cannot do much,
So filled with passion and rage,
 I sit here to write,

I finally come back,
A pen in my hand,
And a bottle of Jack.

Now let me take one shot,
For all the corruption,
Oh felt like bliss that did,
But drinking to all the ruin
Seems a little too candid.
But, to hell with that,
I’ll take another swig,
To all things unfair,
And the governments with a wig,
It burns my throat,
But all things burn,
That’s what makes  us so vulnerable
But still, for more we yearn.
One more shot shouldn’t hurt.

Why write about it you ask?
Well because that’s what I do,
You don’t care you say?
Well sir, I never asked you to.
But come; do join me for a drink.

*hic* I said one shot you bluddering fool,
Not the whole bamn dottle! *hic*
So let me *hic*-tinue,
The world is unfair?
Ofcourse *hic* it is u flippin’ scuttle!
The world is unfair,
U ever see gandhi weeth hair???

Now  *hic* ge bone u insolent imbecile,
Go find bugs bunny,
I hear  *hic*  he’s digging for oil,
It’s the least of my worries now,
By bladder’s in turmoil.

I need to hurry now,
The missus is almost here,
She cant catch me with ol’ Jack,
Oh it’s the worst I fear.
Don’t get me wrong,
She’s sunshine,
Well a big fat ray,
But its that time of the month,
When id rather be in Guantanamo bay.

So They Say (2011)

They say they know me,
And they thought they did,
All the things that would fool me,
Ever since I was a kid,
They rush things past me,
Telling me to catch up,
What happened to taking things slowly,
And not having to mess up,

Everyone’s out to get you,
To them you’re prey,
But why cant I turn the tables around,
And let them see it my way,
Soon time will pass and you will fall,
And your world behind wouldn’t matter at all,
So you will fall and be trampled on,
And tell the world that they’ve finally won,

Everything seems over,
You’ve got nothing left to shed,
Your dreams have been broken,
And your loved ones are dead,
Your head’s going crazy,
But you just keep it locked in,
The world still won’t make it easy,
It always needs another win,

Enough is enough,
No one’s going to hear your cries,
So you wipe those tears,
You crawl back up, you rise,
Believe in help,
And it may come your way,
And you fight your way through,
Hope for a better day,

They say they knew me,
Perhaps they did,
They say they know me,
But I thought I did?

Smile Like You Mean It (2011)

There you stand,
With the world crashing down,
You try your best,
But you can’t waver that frown,
You've been through hell,
You wanna give it up all,
You just can’t smile,
You can’t break that wall.

See, you think you’re alone,
But in reality you’re not,
Over six billion in the world,
All with problems to rot,
Step outta that room,
Don’t think you can’t fight it,
Face it and move on,
Smile like you mean it.

Love hurts, and those loved ones lie,
Friends cry, and people die,
Parents yell, but you always try,
You’re never good enough,
And you don’t know why.

You’ve got years to live,
But do it like it’s your last day,
There’ll always be issues,
But they’re meant to fade away,
Stand up for yourself,
There’s still a fire to be lit,
Believe in what you want,
Smile,
Like you mean it.

What Are You Waiting For (2011)

Your strikes have run out,
And its you their all talking about,
It’s all crystal clear,
Now there’s nothing left to fear.

So what’re you waiting for?
Go grab what you can,
Take your place in the stand,
Stand up, stand tall,
It’s your picture on that wall,
Not theirs.
So what’re you waiting for?

Through hate, through lies,
You’ve kept your eyes on the prize,
You’ve fought this far,
And you’ve got your story for every scar.

So what’re you waiting for?
The world’s your playground,
Your thoughts are profound,
Who cares what they say,
You’re here to play,
To hell with them.
So what’re you waiting for?

If you love her, Go get her,
She’ll fight you, don’t let her,
Make her see what you see,
The integrity of this symphony,
And let it all unfold.

So what’re you waiting for?
There’s no take backs, no last call,
You’ve got the courage to pick yourself up,
After every fall,
Its now or never.
So what’re you waiting for?

Let your creativity unwind,
Let your mind run wild,
Look deep within you,
And promise to stay true,
If you’re going to deny every law,
Then,
What’re you waiting for.

The Multicolored Zebra [Children's Short Story] (2010)

There once was a zebra,
Who had more than just black & white to his name,
He trotted down the abandoned street,
Looking for a place to hide away.

The other animals saw him,
They pointed fingers and laughed,
“You’re a real odd-ball aren’t you?”
Sneered the nasty cat,
“Well you can’t be from the zoo,
So then where are you from, the rainbow?? “
They laughed. They laughed again.
The humble zebra,
Just looked down and kept trotting away,
“My friend…”, said the wise dog,
“…You’re quite the canvass to the painter”,
“I am, actually!...”,replied the zebra,
Speaking for the foremost time,
“…my master was a blind artist,
but a very good artist he was,
Mere help and guidance is what I gave him,
He trusted me with his life,
as I did with mine to him.
He told me he was dying,
So he forcibly made me go,
These many colors I have on me are memories,
And I wear them proud, to show.”

The dog, after this,
Was touched by the animal’s good heart,
“Stay strong my friend,
You will find peace”,he said.
And just as he finished,
Not a moment too soon,
Came a man,
Running to catch up,
Panting but smiling.
“My, my..are’nt you a sight to see,
You look spontaneous dear one,
But now a favor to ask, I must,
My daughter you see,
Is fond of animals,
But her eye-sight was defied at birth,
Her next passion follows art,
But the child needs a guiding friend,
And you dear zebra,
Just suit the part!
Its not fair of me to just take you,
Cuz good friendship cant be forced,
But to you I will make an offer,
I promise you a new home,
A life of comfort you will have.
And all I ask in return,
Is you be that comfort to my little angel.”

The zebra now,
Consoled and moved,
Willingly went with the man,
A new home he will have now,
Along with a new friend to care.
The wandering cat who saw this,
Was confused and Grew green with envy at once,
“How’d he manage to do that? He was nothing but a freak!”
“His advantage, oh wandering cat,
Was that he dared to be different!”
After much thought,
The envious cat,
Rolled in a wad of old paint,
“Now all I need to do..”,he said,
“…is to wait for my new owner to come!”
“HaHaHa!..”,the wise dog laughed,
“..oh cat you’ve gone too far….
Find your own unique feature,
Cuz you’ll never be the multicolored zebra!

A Quaint Affair (2011)

And I will tik, I will tok,
I will breathe, I will walk,
I will speak, I will shout,
But I will listen,
Leave no doubt.

I will run, I will fly,
I will laugh, while you may cry,
I may steal, I may cheat,
I may render everything,
 Obsolete.

I will dance, I will jive,
I will swim, I will dive,
I will draw, I will paint,
I will smear, I will taint.

I will read, I will write,
I will pledge, I will fight,
I will sing, I will play,
Resist if you must,
I am who I am,
And here I stay.

The Cloaked Man (2011)

And there he walks,
Down that bridge,
Looking for someone to take,
His peeling eyes,
And his cold hard smile,
His innocence, just like a snake.

He leaves a trail of destruction behind,
But yet so smooth with his game,
There’s non that dare cross his path,
For ‘Death’ is his real name.

He says, I know not why,
Why people run and cry,
When I come passing by,
The knife, the rope, the pills and the gun,
Lead me to them,
And the mistakes they have done,
From where I just do my task.

This world you see,
At its corrupted state now,
Could use more beings like me,
For all I do,
With those souls in pain,
Is finally set them free.

What If (2011)

What if the sky was not Blue, but Red,
Would it make things better, would it bring back the dead,
What if the world stayed still, not revolved around,
Would we still be alive, would we make a sound,
What if birds chirped tones that went completely wrong,
Would we still think them beautiful and be inspired for song.

What if we could fly and not walk,
Would we have our heads out of the clouds, or even step up to talk,
What if I was on the other side of the fence,
Would I really have a dollar, Instead of just six cents,
What if each nation, understood and aided the law,
Would we have blood on our hands, or a reason for war.

What if that abandoned child could just live on its own,
Would we have most of those prisoners, dashing pick-axes at stone,
What if all hatred, could be replaced by love,
Would we help each other, and thank the one above,
What if I could be someone else, and not just be me,
Would I really give it all up to another, and let them see what I see,
What If that deaf girl was given a voice as big as a whale,
Would she really use it for good, would she sing like a nightingale,
What if all of this could be thrown away like an old shoe,
But sadly it cant, because in its own special way, all of this is indeed true

Beautiful Day (2011)

When I wake up to the morning light,
And see the day so fine and bright,
I wonder what it’s all about,
As the world keeps going in and out.

You have no worries,
You have no grief,
You say hello to every man and leaf,
And you look up to the sky and say,

What a beautiful day,
What a beautiful day,
I put all my fears away,
I’m gonna change my ways,
What a beautiful day.

Get outta the car,
Lets walk not drive,
You shout out loud
You’ve never felt more alive.

But this is your moment,
Let go, Be free,
Just stand up tall,
And wear your heart on your sleeve.

What a beautiful day,
What a beautiful day,
Just close your eyes and play,
Everything’s gonna be okay,
On this beautiful day

But you see,
Nothing’s here to stay.

Night of Uncertainty (2010)

When your brightest day,
Is not pleasing anymore,
You watch the sunset,
With an open door,
You may not realize,
But you’re sinking within,
Within the bowels,
Of a night so grim.

Your eyes see darkness,
Your senses aware,
You submerge into the madness,
That your mind so willingly lets share,
But how sure are you,
That madness is all that it brings,
'Cuz even if you do not want to,
All this may lead to good things.

Temptation takes over,
You give into impulse,
You go where it leads you,
But your thoughts turn to dust,
For now, anything could happen,
Its just you and obscurity,
But you believe and give in,
To this night of uncertainty.

Live (2010)

Your days are bleak,
And with each passing night,
You keep growing weak,
So what would you do,
When life turns on you?
Would you just sit down and cry?
Or would you rather face your fears,
Stand up and fly?

Live, like there’s no other day,
Live, like you’ve always wanted to each way,
Live, and put all your troubles in the past,
Live, make every moment last.
Forget about sorrows,
Forget about pain,
Forget about expectations,
Forget about strain,
Just close your eyes,
And believe in what you see,
A carefree mind,
Could make you as happy as you can be.

Make up a bucket list,
Finish up what’s left,
Jump on a train,
Flirt with a stranger in vain,
Sing your heart out on stage,
Tear out every page,
Go to a party at night,
Get into a fight,
Laugh it off with a friend,
Break something impossible to mend,
Go around the world,
Find the perfect girl,
Get up on a rooftop,
Scream out her name,
Forget the fact that time goes too fast,
Take a breath,
And live each day like it’s your last.

Unheard Wish (2010)

When a thousand days,
Conquer a thousand nights,
Hope as I knew it,
Begins to take flight,
Bringing to life those miracles,
That I sincerely wished for,
But then someone asked me,
What exactly DID you wish for?

Peace, I said,
For the world to be,
Trust,was next,
So that people may not deceive,
Creativity,
For the world to see,
Faith, of course,
For all to believe,
And the last of them all,
One that should not be taken for granted,
Love,
A feeling we long for,
Despite what it does to us.

But all of this is hope,
And hope it shall remain,
'Cuz a thousand nights,
Would always conquer a thousand days,
And what I wished for,
Would be lost in the shadows again.

The End of a Mile (2010)

There comes a time,
An anticipated day indeed,
But you just weren’t prepared for it,
Even though you knew with every beat of your heart,
That you should have been.

You need to stand strong they say,
But they don’t know what its like,
You don’t need them to choose,
What do they know anyway?
They’ve hardly walked a mile in your shoes.

The world is closing in on you,
You’re just looking for a way out,
Without a thought in your head,
You stand up strong,
Holding on tight,
To those crutches of hope.

Enough is enough,
You can show them how it’s done,
You’re not a coward,
So you put down the gun,
Those crutches were temporary,
You don’t need them anymore,
In the mirror lies a visionary,
So believe and let go

The Light (2010)

I walk slowly,
On the iron beams that stretch ahead for miles,
My hands, side by side,
Outstretched for balance,
Almost like an acrobat on a tight rope,
Without his faithful audience.

My surroundings literally dark,
But I see a light at the far corner,
I take a short step down,
As I breathe in.

I take a minor leap forward,
Making sure my feet land on the concrete bar,
I keep repeating this,
As I slowly move onward,
Left, Right, Left,Right.

Im almost there now,
The light slightly bigger and brighter,
I close my eyes,
Thinking not to amend my decision,
But to know why it led to this.

Honestly, there was no one to stop me,
No one who’d notice,
But im no schizophrenic,
And I know why I chose what I chose,
There are things people cant be made to comprehend,
Things they can only know with experience.

But what of the alternative?
Would there be a disparity at all,
Or would it be the same?
And why does this sound so pathetic?
I laughed.
A friend once said,
You have to just take the leap without the look,
Although he clearly did not want that to be related,
To this current situation,
It kept going on in my head.

My canvass is just too crowded with pointless art,
And iv grown weary of trying to make sense of them,
This is it.
Just get rid of the darn canvass.

I open my eyes,
a smile appears on my face,
Its almost time,
The light is just within reach.

A calm ocean breeze entwines me,
Whispering, encouraging me against this,
At least there’s a speck of love in this world.
I hear howls from behind me,
The sound nearly grief-stricken,
I smile again,
I murmur good bye.
Taking one last breath,
The wind giving me the purest it’s got.

Having thought everything I have to confess,
I open my eyes,
“You’ve come this far, why not just face it?”
I look ahead,
The light, much closer now,
So this, is the point of no return!
I spare the last second to read what it says,
“State Property: The Midnight Express”

Confessions (2010)

Paper on the desk,
Pen in my hand,
Writing my life down,
And just where I stand.

They say I got the life,
And maybe I do,
But they don't seem to know,
What I've been through.

A different story,
They tell me to write,
“We’ve gone tired of this,
Lets hear something light”.

So a mask I put on,
To please only you,
But what I will utter then,
Is far from what’s true.

But hush now,
Lets not recall about all that,
Just smile and say hello,
As I don this new hat.

A fanatical tale ,
This may turn out to be,
Although both of us know,
This isn’t the real me.

But this smile I hold,
Will not turn upside down,
The mask will stay,
Till it turns a caramel brown.

Breakaway will the mask,
When the rust triumphs from within,
Face the consolidating task,
Of taking it all in.

That disguise can be replaced,
For the next jamboree,
And decay again it will,
Till I can finally be set free.

As futile as this may sound,
Some of you may still see,
That trifling point,
That’s unnoticed easily.

I know this is extensive,
And I’m grateful for your time,
Which is why I made it easier,
And upheld this rhyme.

Living a Lie (2010)

“Look for the brighter side”,
So many times I’ve heard,
But one of the things I can no longer hide,
Is how I’ve been faking every word.

Change is good I used to think,
And believe me, I did try
But though I looked, I found no link
To the new me, and the one I waved goodbye.

So I go back to what people used to call,
My previous state of mind,
One that was despised,
And not advised,
To help me back from my fall.

True if I stayed away,
It would have been smiles all day.
And I would soar up above and fly,
But had I done that ,
Id have achieved a flawless act,
And my triumph in living a lie.

A Fairy Lie (2009)

The world is perfect,
Or so we're made to believe,
But what we don't realize,
Is that we've been lied to,
From the simple fables,
To one , two, three.

Have you ever heard,
The reality behind,
The flawless stories,
That are not so kind.

Let me reveal the truth,
Of this great big lie,
These little illusions,
That are hidden to the naked eye.

There was no happy ending,
In any story written,
The agony unbearable,
The reason to the reality being hidden.

When Jack climbed the Beanstalk,
His fate was sealed,
Instead of finding treasures,
He found his death under the giants' heel.
But how could a story,
So gruesome be told,
So hence it was changed,
And the beanstalk cut off,
So that the truth would never unfold.

Or have you heard of what really happened,
To the tale of sleeping Beauty?
The spell cast on the spindle,
Was really meant to kill,
And so it did, the little princess,
Who died without will,
But how could a story,
So gruesome be told?
So hence it was changed,
And the spells switched,
So that the truth would never unfold.

The story of Ali Baba,
As many have heard,
Was never quite understood,
As the truth was blurred,
Have you ever wondered,
How a thief so smart,
Would not notice a stranger,
Hidden in his own cave?
Our hero in fact was caught and killed,
His death being so brutal,
That even the lie had to have the evil thrill,
But how could a story,
So gruesome be told?
So hence it was changed,
And the tables turned,
So that the truth would never unfold.

I do not wish to change how you think,
But i give you an insight,
Of the lies told to us without a blink,
So listen wisely my friend,
This isn't something light,
Because some of us cant face the truth,
While only some of us can fight!

Change (2009)

Like a silent shadow it creeps into our lives,
Taking away something every time it strikes,
A hated act, we dare not invite,
But yet we do, as it may shed some light,
We hardly notice, till it comes by,
It comes from ourselves, as our own ally,
Sometimes it stays,
Sometimes it goes,
But what it all comes down to,
Is when, it finally shows.

But do not be afraid, do not despise,
For this strange thing,
Could be a miracle in disguise,
After every death, heartbreak and all that was bad,
The aftermath may be exactly what you wanted,
To take away the past,
And leave you un-haunted.

Change, is what happens,
When you want it the most,
Good or bad, its something to boast,
But watch over it you must, from dusk to dawn,
Have no regrets,
'Cuz you never really know what you’ve got till its gone.

Happy Ending (2008)

What would you do when there's something you want,
Something you reach for, standing on the tip of your toes,
Your head spins around,
Emotions switching like a magicians card,
You're trying hard,
But you just don’t seem to get that far.

The world is your fairy tale,
You've got to write it slowly,
Make the best of what you've got,
'Cause you don't get another story,
When your trust in life is bending,
Remember,YOU are your happy ending!

So hear my plea,
Don’t flaunt my cry,
No more sorrow, I hold my head high,
From dusk to dawn I play this game,
But the riddles of life still stay the same.
